the thing I don't get is.. in fast and furious and fast five.. they had this thing where brian was still trying to beat toretta in a race. and even when he did it in fast five, it was insinuated that toretta let brian win.

didn't the writers realize that brian beat him straight up and the end of the first fast and the furious? why keep putting that angle in the movie?
