profits are at an all time high as well, productivity is up, yet unemployment remains at 7.9% and wages are relatively stagnant.

Yet, conservatives argue closing loopholes or raising taxes on the rich who are obviously not sharing these gains is an outrage.

Discuss.

but is this proof that the 7.9% without jobs are virtually expendable and unnecessary to the American economy? Is 7-8% unemployment the new normal we should get used to?

Companies learned to do more with less during the recession. Companies expanded output by investing in tech instead of people. The unemployment rate is only going to go down when the boomers leave the workforce. 7-8% is the new low until then.

Well the Dow is not a good marker by which to measure the economic health of the majority of the country. Most people who work everyday don't know jack about the stock market and the only connection they have to it is through their 401K.

If thats true, then the worker will keep getting fukked over as companies will have have so much leverage.

and of course that mass movement of retirees will cause its own set of problems

why can't we have a straight forward discussion about the misalignment of business, government and education in this country?

oh okay good looks...good looks

so this is another marker to show growing wealth disparities?

Corporations aren't hiring because they don't like the guy who's in office.

Small businesses aren't hiring because corporations are killing the "little guy."

What's understood doesn't have to be explained.

I just want to say, thank god for Bernanke:whew:. Things would be so much worse without him. However, the fed can't do it all on its own - the federal government and especially congress, have to step up. If not this economy will never fully recover.
