Today, Coli, I lay to rest a dear friend. A friend whom has been there my entire life. From 1990 to 2015, Nintendo has been apart of my life. Growing up, I was the only child in a single parent home. Just me and my mom. Me, my mom and my friend...Nintendo.
Nintendo opened my eyes to the gaming world. The SNES, my first love and all of our offspring: Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, F-Zero. Complete bliss in my gaming infancy. To watch her grow into the N64 is equivalent to me, being in elementary school during that time, discovering my love for girls and growing past the hated "cooties" stage. Just to look at that sleek blackbody
them curvesThat 64-bit NEC VR4300 running at 93.75 MHz. 4 MBRDRAM on a 9-bit 562.5 MB/s bus, upgradable to 8 MB with the Expansion Pak.
She was a thing of legends. Our offspring count nearly doubled brehs. Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, DK 64, Star Fox 64, Pokemon Coliseum, Pokemon Snap , Legend of Zelda OoT & Majoras Mask, WWF Wrestlemania, WWF No Mercy, Super Smash Bros. Goodness. The time we spent together. The fun we shared. The laughter of hitting the barrel rolls in Star Fox. The sadness of watching the fate of Hyrule be control by Ganondarf in Legend of Zelda. The anger of losing right at the finish line to a red shell on mirror mode in Mario Kart. The fear of Majora in Majora's Mask. Legendary times.
Then the Gamecube. Our love still remained but our separation was birthed. The number of our offspring symbolized our growing isolation. Luigi's Mansion, NBA Street vol 1, NBA Courtside 2002, Mario Kart Double Dash, Smash Bros Melee. Her body was goofy to me. Unattractive really. I grew disgusted and impatient.
But its whats on the inside that counts and I knew the gamecube still had a heart for me.
The Wii and then Wii U is where I've drawn the line. Between both systems I've owned a total of 4 games and today it saddens me that I've decided to trade my Wii U in to Gamestop. But its a celebration of life for Nintendo who is still going strong despite poor console sales. The Father of all consoles has been laid to rest.
Xbox has taken her place since 2000 anyway but she's always been a decent sidechick; though this playstation broad has had my attention for sometime nowNevertheless, how much should I expect back and what games do the Coli suggest I check out for my Xbox One? Or should I hold out a little longer?
