The trailer to Toa Fraser’s THE DEAD LANDS has arrived just before it makes its debut in its native New Zealand in October.
The film revolves around a village chieftain’s son named Hongi, played by James Rolleston. When his father is killed in an act of treachery, Hongi plans to seek revenge. However, in order to achievethis, he must enter a mysterious place known as the Dead Lands and seek the one who has ruled the area for years, a mysterious “Warrior”.
The film co-stars Lawrence Makore, Te Kohe Tuhaka, and ONCE WERE WARRIORS’ Rena Owen. Glenn Standring wrote the screenplay. Steve McQuillan served as stunt coordinator of the film, in which the action will bring out authentic Maori martial arts and weapons.
While the film will gets its official release on October 30, XYZ Films are handling international sales. Let’s hope this will get a US release in the near future as judging from the trailer, this looks like an epic in the making.
