rourke was a good actor, could have been great, but never put it down professionally to get the props he gets.

He's a great actor with a short run at the peak of his career. He just didn't play the game, he was a rebel and an outlaw; did things his way and didn't play the Hollywood game of trying to be nice and kissing everybody's ass

But films like The Pope of Greenwich, Diner, Barfly, Rumble Fish, Angel Heart, 9 and 1/2 Half Weeks, and Year of the Dragon prove his talent and greatness as an actor

I think Eric Roberts outshined him in Pope of Greenwich.
Diner was solid.
Barfly never saw.
Rumble Fish was trash to me, and quite frankly I thought Patrick Swayze had a better portrayal of a similar character in The Outsiders.
9 and 1/2 Weeks and Angel Heart trash to me, my personal opinion.

Like I said, if he would have put time in his craft and being a actor instead of trying to be a tough guy persona he might actually have the resume to back up the acclaim he gets.
Personally I think Val Kilmer is superior.

I respect your opinion but I don't agree at all

Eric Roberts is a great actor and he played a great supporting role in The Pope of Greenwich. He's definitely 1 of those guys Hollywood forgot about. He deserves more props, I have a lot of respect for him and his craft.

Diner = classic
Barfly = forgotten classic (You should check it out!)
Rumble Fish = classic (I think if you read the book, it'll make you appreciate the movie even more. But he shined in this and I loved Swayze in The Outsiders too)
9 and 1/2 Weeks was what it was, an explicit sex movie. A classic but nothing that demanded a lot from him. Kim Basinger at her peak :whew:
Angel Heart = classic. Scary, strange and bizarre as shyt too :merchant:

If he would've played nice with Hollywood and held back on coming to sets like a construction worker, he would've had a better career. Cause he has the talent, it's just his "I don't give a fukk" attitude is what hurt his career

Val Kilmer?! Better actor than Mickey?! :bryan:

I can't knock your opinion, it is what it is.
Val Kilmer in The Doors, Willow, The Ghost and The Darkness, Salton Sea, Heat (stood out in some solid performances for Pacino and Deniro), and Tombstone. Kilmer just made terrible movie choices. REally should have went the DDL route
