The CW's Frequency reboot is rounding out its cast.

ER grad Mekhi Phifer has been tapped to co-star in the drama pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the 2000 New Line feature of the same name, the reimagining revolves around a female police detective in 2016 who discovers she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father (also a detective) who died in 1996. They forge a new relationship while working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences of the "butterfly effect" wreak havoc in the present day. Riley Smith (Nashville) stars as Frank Sullivan (the role portrayed by Dennis Quaid in the film).

Phifer will take on the role of Lt. Satch DeLeon, a veteran police officer who was a good friend of Frank's who became a surrogate father to Raimy (not yet cast) after Frank’s death. Andre Braugher played the part in the film, which was written and produced by Toby Emmerich.

Supernatural's Jeremy Carver will pen the script and exec produce the Warner Bros. Television drama alongside Emmerich, John Rickard, Dan Lin and his Lin Pictures topper Jennifer Gwartz.

Phifer's credits include A&E's Roots, Divergent and its sequel Insurgent as well as 8 Mile. On the TV side, he's had roles on House of Lies, Torchwood and Lie to Me. He's repped by Gersh and Brookside Artist Management.

EXCLUSIVE: Peyton List (The Flash, Mad Men) has landed the sought after female lead opposite Riley Smith in Frequency, the CW’s drama pilot based on Toby Emmerich’s sci-fi thriller.

The TV series, written bySupernatural showrunner Jeremy Carver, centers on Raimy (List), a female police detective in 2016 who discovers that she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father, Frank Sullivan (Smith), also a detective, who died in 1996.

Seen in 1996, Frank Sullivan has been undercover for two years. The strain of the assignment effectively destroyed his marriage and separated him from his little girl, Raimy, but he gets a new chance at building a relationship with her when she begins communicating with him from 20 years in the future. The two forge a new relationship while working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences of the ‘butterfly effect’ wreak havoc in the present day. Mekhi Phifer co-stars as Lt. Satch DeLeon.

Emmerich’s feature took place in New York in 1999 and starred Jim Caviezel as homicide detective John Sullivan who strangely makes contact with his late father Frank Sullivan (Quaid) exactly 30 years in the past on the day before his death.

The CW’s Frequency, from WBTV and Lin Pictures, is executive produced by Carve, Emmerich, John Rickard, and Lin Pictures’ Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz.

List, repped by Innovative Artists and Schreck Rose, was a lead on the CW/WBTV’s The Tomorrow People and recurred on The Flash.

CW must plan on airing first run shows all year round because they renewed everything that was already on the air and seem to be picking up a grip of new shows too.

One thing I have to give the CW is that they stay keeping their I guess alumni employed. Peyton List has been on Smallville, One Tree Hill, 90210, The Tomorrow People, The Flash and now this.

They do this with a lot of other actors as well.
