Roswell” is being rebooted at The CW, Variety has learned.

The new, one-hour drama series would follow the daughter of undocumented immigrants who reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. There she discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

Like the original series, this project would be based on the “Roswell High” book series by Melinda Metz. Carina Adly MacKenzie will write and executive produce. Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin Television will executive produce, with Lawrence Bender and Kevin Kelly Brown also executive producing. Brown was previously an executive producer on the original series. Amblin Television and Bender Brown Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television

The original “Roswell” series aired on The WB (now The CW) for its first two seasons from 1999-2001, with its third and final season airing on UPN. It served as an early starring vehicle for stars like Shiri Appleby, Katherine Heigl, and Colin Hanks.

Bender Brown Productions recently completed production on the drama series “Seven Seconds” for Netflix and were nominated for a Golden Globe last year for their Starz limited series “Flesh and Bone.” They are represented by WME and attorneys Carlos Goodman and Leslie Abell.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Amblin Television was also developing a reboot of “Amazing Stories” at Apple as part of a new content deal between Amblin, Apple, and Universal TV.

GOAT theme song......i think i only watched like the first season tho and that was mostly for shiri appleby
You should've stuck around, the show got better after the 1st season.

The 1st season was basically a romantic teen drama with sci-fi elements. In the 2nd season, Ron Moore (The dude who was creator/executive producer/Showrunner/Head Writer for the 2003 "Battlestar Galatica" series on Syfy) came on as Showrunner & the show became a real Sci-Fi show. The 2nd season is the best season out of all 3 seasons.

Is it worth a watch?
If you like CW genre shows and/or old WB Network shows, "Roswell" is definitely worth watching.

I'm okay with this. The og wasn't so good they could probably top it. Just don't make it too much about Max and Liz this time.
