Over the next 4 years, damian lillard will make a combined 14 million dollars

Gerald wallace salary for this year is 10 million dollars :deadpac:

Teams better learn to be patient and build through the draft and stop giving up picks for the right to overpay players

lillard, drummond and barnes is what jigga passed up to overpay gerald wallace

You are right, but the reason they do it because you can't sell fans on future draft picks and salary cap space.

These GMs and more so owners think that spending the money on whoever out there means they are trying to win and the fans will come out and support.

It was more of a desperation move in order to keep Deron Williams interested in staying in Brooklyn instead of looking for greener pastures. Obviously a lottery pick would have been awesome for the Nets, but they knew Deron wasn't trying to rebuild. He's trying to win NOW, so they mortgaged their future to acquire an asset which they thought could help them do that.

Still a horrible move, and glad they fukked up in typical Nets fashion :win:

Billy King panicked after Dwight Howard had his period and stayed with the Magic, and he made a terrible trade.

The Nets were moving to BK, they were never going there with "draft picks and potential".

And what happened if Lillard didn't pan out? Lillard was not a can't miss prospect before the draft.

Terrible trade, but Dame Lillard was not winning us the Title anytime soon over Gerald Wallace.

Damian Lillard and Andre Drummond also happen to play the same positions as Deron Williams and Brook Lopez.

Unprotecting a pick like that didn't make sense, but the Nets just aren't in a position to keep rebuilding. This is an example of a team that goes all-in. They couldn't afford to be patient with a new arena, new management, and a major desire to not only keep Deron Williams, but to maybe add Dwight Howard as well. To their credit, two things:

1. they're winning.

2. Money is of very little concern to Prokhorov.

Thank you, people don't seem to grasp the Nets were never going to move to BK with a "potentially good" team 5 years from now. They had to build a fanbase and sell tickets. A 30 win team was not gonna do that in NY.
