The Blob is back. Goldcrest Films announced they will be producing a remake of the 1958 original along with Simon West (The Expendables 2) set to direct.

The 1958 film, starring Steve McQueen, was set in Pennsylvania and followed the destruction of a small-town by a CONTINUOUSLY growing alien life-form that consumed everything in its path.

“With modern CGI we can now fully realize the potential of The Blob. The world I create will be totally believable, immersive and emotionally satisfying. It’s a thrill to introduce an enduring icon to a wider audience and a whole new era of fans,” said West.

Taewon Entertainment & A-List Corporation will co-finance the film as their first major English-language project. Richard Saperstein and Brian Witten will produce with Goldcrest Films

Lol so what got to me about this, is I read the news on a movie website I go to a lot and the writer was incensed that they're doing a remake only to acknowledge that the version he loves is a remake:aicmon:

When I look at the Blob now, I can't believe that shyt scared me:ehh:

...but, that dude getting suck thru the sink, then splattered out was some diabolical Fukkery:damn:
it was a real fun flick and good remake/homage to the 50's OG.
But The Thing (82) is the greatest remake of the 50's/60's b flicks...IMO.
