I can attest to this. My kids were leaps and bounds ahead when I left the military. Had critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Then they finished Middle and High School outside of the military and I feel like I should have retired there because I feel like I did them a disservice.

This article feels like a bait and switch:
  • Insinuate that the military is driving different outcomes w/ their practices.
  • Spend most of the article listing characteristics that are emblematic of being a well-funded school district with a diverse student base.
It touches briefly on the lack of school board, only to admit how bureaucratic the top-down approach is and, doesn't clearly illustrate how their structure (and not being well funded) is leading to better outcomes
