The benchmark for elite WR use to be 14 - 15 yards per catch.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Is that still relevant?

Career YPC

Jerry Rice - 14.8
Randy Moss - 15.6
T.O. - 14.8

So those are the mount rushmore of WR's.

Michael Irvin - 15.9
Julio Jones - 15.2
Calvin Johnson - 15.9
Isaac Bruce - 14.9
AJ Green - 14.8
Dez Bryant - 14.0
OBJ - 14.0
Steve Smith - 14.3
Steve Largent - 16.0

SO now you have these other WR's with TE level ypc.

Larry Fitzgerald - 12.4
Marvin Harrison - 13.2
Chris Carter - 12.6
Antonio Brown - 13.4
Wes Welker - 11.0
Michael Thomas - 11.7
Andre Johnson - 13.4

Top TE's

Tony Gonzalez - 11.4
Antonio Gates - 12.4
Shannon Sharpe - 12.3

So, I don't really look at catches, because of how offenses pass way more than they did in the past.

If you're not averaging at least 14 ypc, I don't consider that WR to be an elite game breaker. More of a system WR.

And yes, I don't consider Larry Fitzgerald elite despite his career numbers since he only hit 14 ypc only 3 times in his career, and one year he averaged less than 10 ypc :scusthov:

Jarvis Landry in Miami would get all kinds of praise for having the most receptions in the first X amount of games/seasons to start a career, but his YPC was :scusthov:

Design of the offense, responsibility within the offense, offensive line play, quality of quarterback; all can have a significant impact on a wide receiver's YPC.

So nah this ain't the mark to use.
