Here is the normal scene
Here is the version BBC showed
"In something that dramatically and hilariously shows how important great sound effects are, the BBC in the UK aired a scene from the film Everest without the sound effects – with just audio from the actors voices.
It appears Universal Studios, the movie studio behind Everest, sent the BBC this clip of the movie that had no sound effects added.
And that’s amazing, because while everything looks right, it’s action packed and all the visuals are spot on, it’s just like the actors are having a bit of a yell in a quiet room.
should just how important sound design, and ‘Foley’ is to high-end films.
The term ‘Foley’ is the name given to the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality.
Foley does the lot – from breaking glass to swishing dresses and clicks when guns are drawn. Very few sounds made on set are included in the final footage, with dramatic effects created completely by a small studio.
For example, coconut shells cut in half and stuffed with padding makes horse hoof noises, frozen romaine lettuce heads for a good bone or head injury noise."
