Last week brought the rumor that Warner Bros.' upcoming DC slate will see the release of not only Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, but also Shazam!, Sandman, Wonder Woman, and a Flash/Green Lantern team up movie all between 2016 and 2018. We discuss this rumored line-up on our latest episode of Most Craved. You can now add one more title to that list as Latino-Review reports that WB is eyeing 2019 for a solo Batman film starring Ben Affleck, of which the working title is said to be "The Batman."

This release window makes sense for the project given that, as the site points out, Affleck will write, direct, and star in his next directorial effort Live By Night in the summer of 2015. That film will debut October 7, 2016 and frees up a lot of time for the studio to develop the script and get production going. There is also the possibility that Affleck could direct the project, but don't expect any reveals or confirmation for some time.

I just read that. I'm excited to see that mostly because I like Ben as a director and think he could do something very different with batman and probably more in vein of the dc animated version which is my fav interpretation of the character

According to Kevin Smith, Affleck also loves the DCAU so perhaps.

Wasn't there supposedly a standalone 'Flash' film being discussed?

Its cool that they are at least making noise about movies for other characters instead of immediately rolling out the Batman flick ASAP.

Might as well start making rumors about an Aquaman solo flick while we're at it since everybody seems so desperate to just throw stories out there with no evidence to back them up.

Unfounded rumors treated as the gospel has been the case since last July when Batman vs Superman was announced.:manny:

So much can happen in 5 years... if these movie companies were smart, they'd shoot these movies similar to the serials from back in the day = much smaller budgets, regular film releases every year. This reduces risk and allows for each movie to build a storyline better or even be standalone. Not every spiderman movie has to be a freaking "Spidey saves the world/all of NYC from destruction" flick...Thats not classic Spidey IMO (for example). Batman and a few of the other more street level heroes can work the same way.

Assuming this true of course it is a bit concerning that they have so much riding on the success of one movie.

If BVS flops they're gonna have big problems.
