I looked at the thumbnail and thought this was gonna be a 1960's Civil Rights film.
Instead, it's a barber turned banker in current Little Rock, Arkansas. (looks to have been filmed during COVID)
As a film it has all the typical "feel good" and "truth telling" moments, but I'm reminded of Grameen Bank and the hope that microloans would change the world.
He gives out grants for immediate assistance, runs a barber college/low key therapy group.
There was a loan for a hair salon, and one for an auto-shop.
As hopeful and well meaning as I think the film was meant to be, I just left more depressed.
He's trying to fight centuries of economic predation with $5,000 loans.
At best, this is harm reduction. At best...
