Instead of COMPETING with the credit unions by offering similar perks or whatever. . . They run to Obama. . . You got to love it. There is NO free-market in this country. If that's what any of you think this is, think again.

I oppose this obviously, but I fail to see why you would, and why you would think this isn't the free market at work.

Credit unions can't raise capital like banks can, but they can offer lower rates and fees due to generous tax exemptions. Aren't those tax exemptions distortions in the marketplace?

The tax exemptions aren't distortions in the market place. Keeping the money you earned is NEVER a distortion of anything. Being robbed of it by government is the distortion.

The distortion here is the banks using Obama and his powers to crush their competition.

:beli: Be consistent Meta. Tax exemptions which certain members of an industry over others is government favoritism, not the free market system you favor. BOA pays near zero in taxes anyway because of deductions and loopholes and so do other big banks.

You should be for a flat rate and against all tax-avoiding tools. Don't call it "keeping your own money" selectively.

I need to move my checking account. I liked TD Bank until I had some fraudulent charges made using my debit card info and they started bullshytting me about reimbursing them.
