Didn't realize there was a thread for this, but I posted this in another thread

"If you're into these types of spy-thriller shows, and can find it, you must watch the French series (English subtitles) The Bureau. It's probably the best ever spy thriller series. 5 seasons deep, covering 2015-2020.

The closest that we get in the USA would be The Americans, but The Bureau goes way further in-depth with the operations and spans various countries from the Middle East and Europe, without the American Hollywood hero crap. Just very well-written, well acted, and even handed.

Rather than the Hollywood formulaic Iran=bad or Syria=evil, "take my word" approach, it shows the layers to regular folks and intelligence operatives existing in those countries with the political backdrops. Highly recommended.

Showtime/Paramount+ has just began a complete ripoff of it named The Agency. It's basically the same thing, but instead of beginning with Syria (at that time), The Agency begins with Sudan. Do with that as you wish."

man we in a crazy era with all these heavy hitter actors doing tv :banderas: Gary Oldman and Richard Gere would have scoffed at doing a tv show in the 90s/2000s
I mean, the Hollywood movie game is out of quality original ideas. Great actors are finding better scripts on the small screen these days.

not only that its where the money is at as well.

I know for Richard Gere he wasn't getting films in a min because of his tibet stance.

I take it they "Americanized" The Bureau just like they did with The Office
I'll peep, but if it's the same plot points as the French piff (case officer in love with the wrong woman, asset going rogue in the field, bureaucratic infighting, sad teenage daughter) then what's the point? The Bureau is the GOAT

Apparently The Bureau is available on the hoopla digital app

All you need is a library card and a PIN number I guess it's the library system of access to programming.

And of course I can't find mine :beli:

So far, just about scene for scene lol. Just switched up Syria/Iran for Sudan.
