The Cosmos
A flourishing period where art, technology and music broke through and reached a higher level enabling the internet, modern TV, modern computers, Michael Jackson, Star Wars, Steven Spielberg movies, magical childrens cartoons, Nu Wave music, Hip Hop, and countless other wondrous ideas and inventions. :blessed:

A period of low unemployment and high economic growth and the end of the cold war :blessed:

Only downside was the crack boom:hubie:

80s was the uncontested GOAT decade of our modern era.

Yes. Yes it was.

Waves like that really make you wonder about planetary/universal consciousness and how the fabric of the cosmos reflects in the individual and his expression in society.

As far as entertainment and athletics, it was not a renaissance. Before a renaissance, you need a dark period. Advancing is not the same as a “renaissance”.

The Italian Renaissance was a rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman thinking and styles. The Disney Renaissance was a return to form after multiple decades of putting out mediocre/weak films.

The 70s were amazing artistically, better overall than the 80s, and while athletics might have reached new heights, the 70s weren’t bad in that area either.

80s has the worse music production in the history of sound

That's kinda harsh breh :whoa:

But I will say that synth sound put a lot of brehs out of work. Black 70s bands had some impressive brass sections that really gave the music back then a fuller sound. But then the 80s happened :francis:

For African Americans the 80s was a turning of tides as the reforms pushed through by Dems like LBJ finally came to some fruition, but the ascension to power of the megalomaniac right in the form of Reagan began the process to whittle away those rights.

The music industry was in financial straits due to the 70s groups like Earth WInd and Fire, Parliment (just examples there are tons more) etc had huge production cost in the studio and stage due to the number of musicians and elaborate set pieces. The introduction of technology, drum machines, MIDI, Workstation keyboards and Hiphop meant music could be made cheaply and saved the industry in the 80s`
