My impressions: this is a really good article discussing the 3.5% rule which is an observation Dr. Chenoweth made when analyzing political/social movements from 1900-to-2006. It takes 3.5% of the population of a nation to make for significant change within that nation. Her research also found peaceful movements were 2x more successful than violent movements. Although peaceful movements failed 47% of the time due to there not being enough people in a particular movement, it isn't as disastrous as violent movements which were only found to be 26% successful.
Her findings gave possible reasons for violent movements being less successful which is they had to be more covert, relied on physically capable men, and needed money. Peaceful movements tend to be more successful due to not needing physically fit men, less funding, and having a greater moral standing. The peaceful movements just need 3.5% of the population to enact the change that nation needs.
