why does India have so many genetic abnormalities?

Its a mix of different things
1. They have very poor genetic diversity thanks to the caste system that is informally enforced there. You are liable to end up in an arranged marriage to someone who might actually be related to you since they're within the same caste.

2. Terrible quality control with pesticides and chemicals in addition to overall poor environmental regulations.

3. Lack of access to quality medicines and preventative treatment.

Asia has really poor genetic diversity since there's very little mixing going on in these populations and hostility to immigration, so you're seeing rare diseases persist in the bloodline instead of being bred out. It's one of the reasons why certain 'purebred' animals like pugs, French bulldogs, etc. Have horrific genetic defects and die sooner compared to their mixed versions.

Africans didn't succumb to European disease owing to transnational trade and mixing across the continent. A random African actually has more in common genetically with a random European than he might have with an African from another part of the continent. Africa is enormously diverse and a giant continent with different types of natural climates.
