Not sure if its due to youth at the WRs and lack of reps with Lamar when it comes to the hot routes. I do think Lamar gets locked in to one guy or side of the field and makes it too easy for the defense to key in on that. Combined with our stale route combinations, doesn't leave too much to work with when the pressure comes.

I want to see JK more in the passing game to be somewhat of the safety valve/easy hot for Lamar when not something is there. But him being a rookie he might be limited playbook wise this season. :francis:

But yeah, Lamar makes a lot of turnovers that have you scratching your head thinking he's doing too much.

Hurst was great at running those inside seam routes and those hitches in the soft zones. I think Sneed has taken that role to some extent but now our running game isn't as dynamic since we can't run as many of those tight packages anymore.

The issue with throwing it outside IMO is who is your go to guy? Y'all get to see more games than me but whether its play-calling or WRs I'm not seeing a lot of good opportunities consistently on the outside. Which is having a big WR on the outside would be helpful.
They’re line isn’t as good as last year. You got a future HOF being replaced mainly by a 4th round rookie. I don’t think receivers have enough time to get open down field. And even then most of them aren’t fast enough anyway outside of Brown and Duvernay. Now that Hurst is gone defenses can completely take away Andrews too becuz Boyle and Ricard are no pass catching threats. They are basically learning how to play without two huge pieces of the offense from last season on the fly becuz of hardly any training camp and no preseason which is prolly why Lamar doesn’t look as confident as last season. I like what I saw from him late in the game yesterday tho. But that 4th down call was horrible. Roman is great at scheming for the running game but not the passing game and it showed on that play

I think it’s fair to say Dobbins took the job from Ingram yesterday. Him and Gus had their way against a very good run defense. It prolly shoulda already happened. Ingram was looking washed up but I think they were trying to keep him happy. No way three running backs should have almost equal carries. Nobody can get in a rhythm that way

Good point about the line, and now it looks like Ronnie is out for the year too:francis:

That’s a HUGE loss. While I think Orlando can be good enough to hold down left tackle against most teams he’s gonna get exposed against certain teams becuz his feet aren’t as quick as Stanley’s. But I think the main issue will be having Fluker at right tackle. That nikka can’t even start over a 4th round rookie and gets less reps than that dude Mehkari

I think they’re missing Hurst more than they thought they would. Obviously getting him for a 2 was genius but they ran a lot of three TE sets last year and he had to be accounted for becuz of his athleticism. His numbers didn’t show it but he was the third highest targeted player for Lamar last year. Lamar still can’t throw outside the seams consistently and they took away one of the main players who ran routes in between the hashes
Been saying this all year

the 3 TE dynamic is what made our offense unstoppable last year

teams just couldn’t matchup personnel wise

i saw all this coming in the offseason

I been saying the offense was gonna struggle because they put all the resources into the defense

these nikkas really think Lamar is Tom Brady and he can just carry a bunch of mediocre talent...they’re wrong and they’re seeing that now

Orlando actually plays better at LT than he does at RT to me

and im not worried about Fluker

hes much better than Phillips and Mehkari

He didn’t start because he was the only backup tackle we have and they didn’t want to risk him getting hurt and not having someone to replace Stanley/OB

the issues with the line has been the interior, mainly Skura and Phillips

both have been terrible all year

Yeah, I wonder how much fluker has left in the tank. But apparently the coaches are all high on him so I dunno.

Honestly I’d still make the trade becuz who else is gonna give up a two for Hurst? Just to put that in perspective the Texans got a two for Hopkins
:russ:

To be fair to Lamar tho there’s very few QBs like Brady who can carry an offense. Most of the good ones have an abundance of weapons. The Ravens are notorious for this. They never give their QBs enough and seem to make all the wrong personnel decisions on offense

Like when they asked Boldin to take a pay cut and then turned around and gave Pitta that huge extension

John Harbaugh is a moron so don’t be shocked when Ingram is starting amd getting most of the carries when hes healthy

See my thing is Fluker was signed to play right guard. You gotta put your best product on the field. You can’t worry about injuries becuz they are a part of the game. If he’s getting less time than Phillips that tells me they don’t have much confidence in him

I hope not. Ingram has been done since he got that non contact injury toward the end of last season. At first I thought the lines run blocking had fell off until I saw Dobbins and Edwards having their way yesterday.

I keep seeing people say shyt like this about Brady and Wilson and it's wild cause them nikkas came in the league as game managers and wasn't carrying shyt early in their careers and was still winning championships.

I agree about the TE part tho which is why I liked the idea of bringing in Zach Ertz before he got hurt and why due to his size I think you can play Dez in similar sets. Gotta replace Hurst eventually tho. They effectively lost their second/third receiving option and never replaced him.

They need to unleash Duvernay too:francis:

trading Hurst wasn’t the problem

the problem was not replacing him

they traded Hurst and used that pick to draft a RB they never use

we had multiple picks in the 2nd,3rd,and 4th in a deep ass WR draft yet we dont trade up to get one of the top guys

shyt mad zero sense to me

You definitely right about that. If they found a suitable replacement this wouldn’t be an issue. They thought sliding Ricard over to TE was gonna make a difference
