I'm not down on the team, but I think some key changes can lead to a Super Bowl victory this season. I've seen the KC game 3 times and each time I've seen things that could've changed the outcome of the game. The Ravens were more out of position in in the KC game than any other game I've seen recently. This was a very undisciplined team on Monday night that made a lot of errors mostly on defense.
First thing, the Ravens need to bring in Cameron Wake or another pass rusher that can win the 1 on 1 battles. It doesn't benefit the outside edge rushers to have Campbell and the interior defenders soaking up multiple blockers if the edge rushers can't take advantage of the 1 on 1 situations.
Second thing, this coaching staff has done nothing to prepare Lamar for the double spy or 8-9 men in the box situations. Lamar has weaknesses, just like every other QB, even Mahommes. The difference in being a great player and an average/bust player is your ability to identify errors and attack them. This is the third or fourth time Lamar and this coaching staff has faced these types of defensive schemes and it's the same result. If the coaches can't figure out a way within Lamar's skill set to beat these schemes, the Ravens won't win the big games. It's poor coaching and the inability to adjust to this scheme. The only team that did it to them and loss was the Bills and that was probably due more so to personnel or lack of speed to do it effectively.
Third thing, the coaches need to stop doing shyt that's not working and/or abandoning what is. The blitz clearly wasn't working on Mahommes, but Wink kept dialing them up. Harbaugh should've told him to chill and drop more men in coverage or just have the ends rush up field, keep contain and have the interior rushers collapse the pocket all the while having the corners in press man coverage. Same thing with Roman continuing to call passing plays when KC couldn't stop the run. 90% of Mahommes' scrambles are to the right. Judon or whoever is there should never crash inside when rushing from that side.
Fourth thing, Skura isn't ready to be out there yet. I saw him a number of times lunging and dropping his head during pass pro which tells me, he needs to work on his technique. He never really drove anyone off the ball before the injury in the run game, so he damn sure isn't doing it now. Between him and Bozeman, the interior oline is inferior, so the coaches either need to make some changes or hide the deficiency. Phillips looks legit though. I'd like to see how he matches up against Adkins and other interior dlineman this season, but he looks like he's gonna be a legit starter for many years to come.
I'll leave yawl with this. In 3 games against the Chiefs, the Ravens receivers have dropped 13 passes. In the last 23 games against every other NFL team, the Ravens receivers have dropped 24 passes.
