Because we need this, half the topics that are about to start popping up are unnecessary.

This dude Rex Ryan said he is the best Defensive Coordinator:rudy: and then tried to base it off stats:comeon: Its dikk Lebeau hands down. And to make it worse, this dumbazz write from nfl.com agrees with him, fukin NY media:thumbsdown: Rex Ryan claims he's NFL's best defensive coach -- is he right? - NFL.com is the article

Now his reasoning is based off the fact that he hasn't finished lower than 6 in total D, so by that reasoning, if I guy has never finished lower than 5 however never having #1 overall, he would be better than Ryan? Lets look at body of work.

Let me break it down, last 7 years. I'll look at Total D(T) & Scoring D(S):

2004
Lebeau- T#1, S#1
Ryan- Not applicable, he wasn't a D Coordinator

2005
Lebeau-T#4, S#3,
Ryan-T#5, S#10

2006
Lebeau-T#9, S#11,
Ryan-T#1, S#1

2007
Lebeau-T#1, S#2,
Ryan-T#6, S#22

2008
Lebeau-T#1, S#1,
Ryan-T#2, S#3

2009
Lebeau-T#5, S#12,
Ryan-T#1, S#1

2010
Lebeau-T#2, S#1,
Ryan-T#3, S#6

2011
Lebeau-T#1, S#1,
Ryan-T#5, S#20

------------------------------------------------------

I'll admit, its closer than I originally thought. But still dikky Lebeau gets the edge. Rex Ryan has brought no innovations to defense, dikky has revolutionized the 3-4, he is responsible for the influence of all the teams who's adopted the concept. He is the godfather of the zone blitz.

Ryan is the most self-absorbed coach in the NFL, we've known that for years with his whole "I`m taking the pressure off the team" shtick. Don't even pay attention to him. But here's my random thought.

We're going through another one of those "The QB position is being evolved" phases, which will be over in a few years. We went through it in the early 2000`s and teams were all about the running/mobile QB, it's going to happen again. Cam Newton's unique excellence is gonna fool a lot of teams into taking chances on the scramblers again, it will be weeded out in a few years.

But to be fair, it's football season, don't try and consolidate all the thoughts into one thread. Basketball season is always 90% threads for the NBA on the main page.

Did this dude Steve Mariuchi(sp?) really say Troy Polamalu isnt a hall of famer because of his interception count?! His next comment when responding to someone was 'You dont get put in the Hall for tackles" Regardless of anything, im not sure if he's hall worthy if he retired today, but that being said he Plays Strong Safety you idiot, he's in the box. He zone blitzes and yes he is one helluva tackler.B Dawk is prolly gonna get a hall call and he only has 37 ints, anddd he was a Free Safety. We arent judging ray lewis on sacks, he's a play maker. Making plays gets you in the hall not interception numbers, if thats the case then the all pro CBs are frauds cause people like nmandi and revis dont get thrown at and have only like 3 picks a year

To be fair with the exception of the 2006 season (probably the second best Ravens D ever) Rex has never had the pass rushers/secondary combo that Lebeau has had at his disposal. Harrison/Woodley and Timmons are hard to top when it comes to rushing the passer.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Maurice Jones-Drew is now "open to being traded" in light of owner Shad Khan's recent suggestion that the "train is leaving the station.

"Run, get on it," Khan added as advice for Jones-Drew. If the star tailback was thinking about returning soon, as teammates reportedly believed, Khan's comments had the opposite effect. Jones-Drew is once again entrenched. Per Schefter, the holdout "shows no signs of letting up and is fully expected to extend into the regular season." If the front office accepts Jones-Drew's trade invitation, former Jags coordinator Dirk Koetter's team in Atlanta is one to watch. GM Thomas Dimitroff isn't afraid to make bold moves, and a declining Michael Turner is a poor fit for Koetter's fast-paced offense.
