We were covering this in TLR in the Mr. Rogers is the GOAT threads but I wanted to put a dedicated thread here.
First, some random Professor of Finance made an uninformed rant claiming that American kids were entitled cause they grew up watching Mr. Rogers. Even though he based it on absolutely nothing, the Wall Street Journal decided that was worthy of a featured opinion piece and proceeded to blame Mr. Rogers for kids being narcissists, rude, self-absorbed, disrespectful, and lazy.
Blame It on Mr. Rogers: Why Young Adults Feel So Entitled
So of course Fox News jumped on that shyt with the swiftness, basically turning Mr. Rogers into some sort of evil figure:
Pushback got intense so the original professor had to retract his statements, tho I don't believe the Wall Street Journal or Fox News ever did.
Professor retracts Mr. Rogers smears.
I just thought it was interesting how two major news organizations worked so quickly to try to destroy and belittle someone who did so much good on so little evidence. I'm not even sure why they would even have anything against Mr. Rogers (unless they just innately react against anything good) that would cause them to co-sign the attacks so readily - you would have thought he'd be their ideal of pro-family, God-affirming, white male image. Then again he's a good guy so....

The reference to Mr. Rogers was just a metaphor. I have no professional qualifications to evaluate the real problems or propose solutions. Mr. Rogers was a great American. I watched him with my children and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again if I had young children
