I watched this movie last year with my cousin. I don't think it was a terrible movie, but it was a little frustrating to watch. It pissed my cousin off though and they felt the same way you do about her decision to have a baby anyway.
The plot had some serious holes and few or weird resolutions. I think trying to keep it suspenseful, shocking or whatever else caused the biggest problems with this movie. The suspense worked on me because I kept watching to find out. Some of the characters thoughts and actions, including the aliens, were just dumb, even "smart dumb"...
I think it's well filmed though.
I'll never willingly watch this movie again.
