First of all, there are some specific details in that episode that show why it makes sense that omar be taken out in such a meaningless way

When michael was ran up on by omar at the corner, kenard went from :merchant: to :wtb: to :stopitslime: right there. This lil wild nikka was not impressed...or shook...at all. He didn't give a fukk about the legend of omar, he just saw an old 'gumpy' ass nikka...then, when omar rolled thru the alley in front of kenards peoples, they can off...kenard's lil sociopathic ass was fukkin pouring lighter fluid on a CAT, and didn't move a muscle. Instead, he caught him slippin and did omar in.

The main point though is the last scene in the episode. The body bag that omar was in wasn't even fukkin labeled right; the coroner happened to recognize it was wrong, but this dude who was a decade or so long legend, wasn't even relevant enough for people to tag his body bag right. And that's the key; as big as omar was to that world, in the words of marlo, "he's just another nikka with a gun". "Ghetto street murders" don't really amount to shyt and and you don't go out like scarface...you just get shot and you don't matter anymore.

Did bodie even get his name dropped in season five? Its crazy how that was a core point of the show but few picked up on it.

I know it would've been cooler if omar went out in a mexican 3 way standoff with chris and the bunk...but him just getting popped, and bagged is 1000x more realistic.

Maryland by way of DC
Plus, Omar had a weakness for kids. Or he'd overlook them. Remember in season 4 when him and Reynaldo were doing surveillance on Marlo and Mike was talking to Marlo and Omar said he's just a kid? That's why Omar didn't think nothing of it when Kenard walked into the convenience store.

They see me trolling, they hating.....
this is true but ultimately it applies to everyone

when the sun becomes a red star 5 billion years from now and totally devours Earth no one will give a fukk about our existence. Earths entire history will be erased at that point with no one will be around to remember it bro.

Maybe if we're lucky some alien species millions of years after will stumble upon our BBQ'd planet and find some interesting shyt that wasn't evaporated

So my friends, don't feel better about yourself because you feel your life is superior to some random goon gunned down in the street. In the end both of you will be equally forgotten and unimportant.

just caught this ep-- although it does make sense in the realistic manner-- all his build up was just wasted-- but its understandable considering how quickly things r moving in the 5th season

Omar was the most unrealistic part of the Wire. Shouldve died season 1. He walked into the pit and robbed them just using his words :what:
