Exclusive: Major WWE Network Update; Plans Put on Hold, All New Hiring Frozen, More Details | WrestleZone

WZ has learned today that plans for the WWE Network have been put on hold indefinitely. At this point, the network hasn't a single deal signed with cable providers, and while WWE was considering making the network a pay channel, similar to HBO, internal studies have shown less than 100,000 homes would be willing to pay a monthly fee.

Additionally, WZ has learned through sources close to the head of the HR department and the VP of programming, that all hiring for the network has been frozen. In fact, we have been told any new hires that have been made for the network are in jeopardy of being terminated.

Initially, the launch was pushed to November 12th of this year, then to February of 2013, but as of this writing the network is not going forward at all. We've been told WWE failed to realize what a big onset and investment the network would be, and NBC Universal was going to sell WWE part of its Universal HD channel, but WWE balked and wanted its own network.

Now, with no infrastructure set up at all, we've been told a network would be virtually impossible to create in 6-12 months.

We can barely handle this shyt 3 hours at a time now. They tryna get us 24/7 and our money? :heh:

1 good thing: this means Joey Styles will probably be back to do commentary!

He's too spontaneous for Vince. I'm starting to see why Cole is perfect for his job, because he can transition seamlessly when given orders over the headset.

Ain't he still running .com?
Jup, but he was supposed to have a big part in the launch of the network as well (as the .com part was supposed to be the propaganda channel for the 24/7 stuff). Now that the network is out of the waters, he'll have to do other things-->commentary

Vince doesn't do any fukking marketing research. This could have been solved with a simple prelim study. Instead he's got Yes Men standing around telling him what he wants, so he goes and gets a check for 200 million dollars to throw down the drain. He has no fukking co!mmon sense.

He may have been instrumental in wrestling coming to its rise, but he also benefited from others failures who were competing against him, and frankly, got lucky much of the time due to circumstance and mistakes he engineered!

He's damn foolish and this is why his company won't be worth shyt in years.

I knew this shyt wasn't gonna get off the ground at least Vince himself sees it now. They don't need the headache of a Network at all right now.

They need to start developing a separate business venture away from the sports entertainment game. When Vince is gone, there's quality production experience with the E and I can see it put to use in other areas of business.
