In a new episode of Crime Watch Daily set to air on Friday Chris Hansen gets quite the shock when he realizes that he knows the 'predator'.
Hansen spoke with DailyMail.com before the episode aired and admitted that he did not recognize the man until he was standing just feet away from him in the kitchen where he allegedly believed he was meeting a 13-year-old boy.
'I honestly did not realize it until I walked out. And then I suddenly recognized him because we used to commute into the city every day together from Connecticut,' said Hansen.
He then added that the two men would even chat from time to time while on the train.
'I could not believe it,' said Hansen.
The man, who was found with condoms and gay porn in his car, rushed out of the home as soon as Hansen entered the room.
'Oh s***. No, Chris!' said the alleged predator.
Hansen looked at him and asked: 'What are you doing here?'
The man then ran for it, while saying: 'Chris, please.'
He was later taken in for questioning where he tried to absolve himself of any wrongdoing by saying he thought the person he was talking to was 18 and not 13.
He claimed he was wearing glasses because he had scratched his eye and could not wear his contact lenses.
'I could show you that I was at my ophthalmologist yesterday... an eye doctor,' the man said. He said that is why he was he was wearing those glasses and 'why I didn't see that correctly'.
'I thought it said 18,' he added when shown what appears to be a cell phone.
‘I would never, ever in my entire life meet a 13-year-old… it’s disgusting,' the man said. 'Consenting adults is a different story.'
The 'predator' also says at one point: ‘Chris Hansen… I know him, he’s a friend of mine.
'I commuted with him on the train for years and that’s more of an embarrassment than anything.
'When you meet Chris Hansen in the kitchen, there’s no win.'
