They surrendered when they had no army left. Russia invanding Manchuria was not a factor, it was the reason of the end. The 'invincible' army was gone.

After the 9th august, there was nothing left between them and Stalin.

Even without Nagasaki, they would've surrendered. The bomb was not necessary.
Bruh do you know your history? Or are you not from here?...like I said the emperor had to intervene to make them surrender cause they didn't want to...Russia declaring war did play a factor ....and that 2nd bomb was definitely needed....they didn't actually surrender till August 15th....and best believe they still wanted to fight....c'mon now....the funny part is that Stalin insisted on occupying the main islands of Japan after their invasion but Truman made him fall back and we all know why....

The gov decided on the 9TH when the Manchuria Army was crushed. They told the Emperor to accept the Postdam declaration the 10th. It was announced on the 15th.

So, no the bombing was not necessary. Once, they lost their barrier with Stalin; they had no choice but to surrender or to fall to the soviet.

The problem is that the Soviet Manchuko offensive is not even talked about and Japan being nuked is hyped to death.

The reality is that the defeat of the Soviet offensive is what led to the surrender. :yeshrug:

Cold war is over:no need to perpetuate lies. :yeshrug:

Son the japanese were undeterred by the first bomb....I forget what japanese admiral it was but he argued that the US only had one such bomb....and man was he wrong....after the 2nd bomb they feared the US would drop on Tokyo....that's why the big six voted 3-3 as some of them wanted to fight still....they even had the nerve to send word to the US that they would surrender but the emperor would still retain his rights....the japanese are a proud people but we the broke the fukk outta them with those bombs....just facts bruh....

This is cold war patriotic historiography:yeshrug:It's not accurate.:yeshrug:

Once Stalin lauched his offensive, Japanese were done for and the US knew it.

But they still launched that nuke knowing it would not change the outcome for Japan but it will solidify the US top dog status. Stalin now knew that the US had more than one bomb.

At that point, Japanese civilians were just pawns in a distance game between the US and the USSR.

I have an Oppenheimer quote as a tattoo.

Still ain't finna see this shyt.

Not on some cinema-v-movie war shyt. I just... don't give a fukk. It's making a movie about one of the worst human decisions and innovations in the past couple hundred years. We know how it plays out. It doesn't even have the lurking potential of a Chernobyl - it's gonna be a grungy, muted, dramatic-for-its-own-sake auteur-first, audience-second Nolan film. Technically great. Emotionally draining. And energetically hollow.

That said, some people bout to act their asses off, that's for damn sure

Curtis lemay had been selectively bombing the hell out of Japan for weeks and they continued fighting. The cumulative devastation caused by lemay et al made Hiroshima and Nagasaki look trivial. The soviets on the other hand was different…would have made the Japanese as a people and culture extinct.
Lol are you saying atomic bombs wouldn’t have ? Selective bombing is not a fukking atom bomb. Especially when you don’t know how many more the other country has.

This how Coli nikkas are

If something is not for them or not aligned with their tastes, it’s “trash”, “cac shyt” or anything to get nikkas to dikk ride their opinion

Not surprising Coli nikkas don’t want to learn about The Manhattan Project and the creation of a weapon that altered and changed the course of history for every human born after the creation of the bomb or the man behind it. This is arguably one of the greatest American stories from a sheer scientific standpoint in what was accomplished but again… not surprising Coli nikkas in here shytting in it :francis:
Cool thing is this movie approaching led to some podcasts I listen to covering the Manhattan Project. I’ll probably wait to see this on streaming, but it really is a crazy story. Whole lot of scary shyt and spy stuff littered throughout that I think most folks are generally unaware of.
