His entire plans to get the stones led to his demise.

He already had the mind stone. He tried to get the space stone next because it would allow him to travel anywhere in the universe making it 1000x easier to get the rest.

Loki knew exactly where it was, so instead of going to get it himself, he let Loki finesse him out of the only stone he had just so he could get it. Had he gone and got it himself, he would've had it in like 2 minutes and bounced. No Avengers movie.

Then he could have simply teleported to the power stone and got it before Star Lord got there. 3 stones with minimum effort. Next was the reality stone. He could've got that with ease because he would've found out where it was eventually.

So he would've had 4 stones before anyone knew what he was planning.

At first I assumed he waited until he knew the location of all the stones (mainly the soul stone), and once he found out Gamora found it, he would start collecting them.

But he still sent his goons to get the mind and time stones. With 4 already accumulated, he could have easily obtained it and left earth, once again before anyone knew what the hell was going on and scarlett witch would have never had her powers in the first place and thor wouldn't have had that vision.

So 5 stones and nobody would have known what was going on..

But it's still #marvelset.
