WALTER easily could have been like, hey I'll work in the US but you don't get to own the WALTER name/trademark. So he came up with a name that had similar meaning and is using that for his WWE name going forward. It's smart on his part because this past year showed us no one is safe. He could safely and legally use WALTER again outside WWE if he got released.
