WWE Hall Of Famer Terry Funk recently appeared as a guest on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestlingpodcast where he spoke about preparing to come out of retirement for a match at age 73 against longtime career rival and fellow WWE Hall Of Famer, Jerry "The King" Lawler. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On how he feels as he prepares to come out of retirement for Big Time Wrestling: “How do I feel about it? I feel really great about it and I feel great that I am able to get back into the ring event though I’ve had a little bit of a physical problem. But I feel like I am prepared for it, I’ve worked hard at it and I am back in shape one more time. It is a great card that they’ve got there. I am looking forward to getting into the ring with the Rock N’ Roll Express and also going against Lawler one more time. What an idiot.”

On getting in the ring and wrestling Jerry Lawler again: “I certainly don’t feel blessed to be in there against The King because The King is nuts. We all know that. Jerry Lawler is as nuts as I am. He is going to try and be going in the ring as long as I’ve gone in the ring. I don’t know if he is going to try and catch up with me or what but Jerry Lawler is truly a legend in his area and his family is a legend and it is a pretty amazing thing.”

On his matches with Jerry Lawler in the past always being chaotic: “I’ve never been in anything but a chaotic match with Dusty Rhodes and him. Dusty and Lawler both were over bearing. Dusty and Lawler both, I don’t think I’ve ever called anybody else but those two this, “egg sucking dogs.” That is what both of them are. Jerry Lawler is also a pig. He wants all of the money, he wants everything. That is Jerry Lawler’s way and it is not my way because I am wonderful person and I’m a great guy but Jerry Lawler is not. Dusty Rhodes was okay but he couldn’t quite make being a football player and he played behind me the entire time at West Texas (State) and that is why he couldn’t stand me. I was just a little bit better than he was. I’d like to find that idiot kid of his Cody and I’d like to beat the hell out of Cody sometime. That would be a real pleasure. If Cody is around at the arena whenever I get there, I’ll take on Lawler first and I’ll take on Cody after and anybody else too.”

On the reason why the Dusty Rhodes/Funk rivalry will never die: “It was pretty intense and especially in Florida. It was probably the greatest feud in wrestling at that time. All you had to do was put us in the ring and sometimes not even put us in a ring just in the same arena. Same with Lawler, just put us in the same arena and we don’t have to be in a ring together because we will find each other. The people knew we were going to find each other before the night was over. If Dusty was close enough to hear it I’d say: Is that so? But he was too dumb to pick up on it (FATSO). It was just a continuous feud. It went back further than myself with wrestling and it went back to West Texas University and Dusty was playing behind me. He was playing like a second team guard and he could never start at West Texas because I was always ahead of him. I was always so much better than Dusty.”

On his matches with Ric Flair during their 'Feud of the Year' in 1989: “That was quite the feud there. It was quite the bitter feud and was a very rough feud to go through with Ric and he certainly didn’t like me at that time and I didn’t like him and we were both trying to be at the top of (World) Championship Wrestling in Georgia and at that time I was much better of a competitor than Ric was but that is my own opinion.”

On Ric Flair’s recent health issues: “I sent my regards to him and I wish him the best. It is very important to me that he comes along and to be very honest with you when you take a look at the old timers there are not many of us that are left and that are headed to the ring. I’d like to see Ric come back and come into the ring and I’d like to go into the ring with him. I really mean that. I’d like to have one more chance and basically I think Ric would like to be in the ring with me too. It is just like with Lawler, I am looking forward to this. It is very important to me and I have no intention of anything but coming out on top at the end of the night. It means a great deal to me because if I don’t than I’ll be totally upset with myself because this will probably be the very last time I get in the ring with him.”

On what he wants fans to remember about him: “I would like to be remembered, be respected and to be loved by the wrestling fans and to be thought of as giving 100 percent each time you stepped through the ropes. That means a great deal to me.”
who keeps asking for this?

As noted, Vince McMahon has been announced for next Tuesday night's episode of SmackDown Live.

As we reported earlier this week, the WWE Chairman is expected to announce Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens in a match of some sort for a future pay-per-view event.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the belief is that Vince will confirm Shane vs. Owens for the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell 2017 pay-per-view when he makes his WWE television return at this coming Tuesday night's episode of SmackDown Live.

Shane McMahon recently attacked the former WWE Universal and United States Champion, which led to him being suspended as the SmackDown Live Commissioner. As a result, many assume Vince will confirm what is already expected, which is that Shane is eligible to wrestle now that he is no longer the Commissioner of the blue brand.

"Obviously they're building to Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon," said Meltzer during a recent episode of his Wrestling Observer Radio program. "I'm guessing that Vince will announce that since Shane is no longer an authority figure, he can now be a wrestler and as a wrestler, he can put his hands on an opponent. So, I'm thinking that's where that thing goes."

WWE Hell In A Cell 2017, which is expected to feature the Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens match, is scheduled to go down from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, October 8th, airing live via pay-per-view and the WWE Network.
Kenny Omega on WWE Developmental
New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star and decorated international pro wrestler Kenny Omega recently appeared as a guest on Edge and Christian's podcast, E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness for an in-depth interview. Below are some of the highlights.

On problems with WWE's old developmental territory Deep South Wrestling: "Even coming in to going to developmental, my end goal and the place I always wanted to be was Japan still, so I went into developmental wishing I could be in Japan or at least having experienced that first. Looking back at it now, maybe I wasn't mature enough or I couldn't… I mean, I loved wrestling and it was such a passion of mine to… and I mean the artistic and creative part of wrestling and actually the act of doing it. I didn't love the business part of it, if that makes sense."

On feeling like his attempts to showcase his personality was sabotaged: "I felt like any attempt to show my personality was sabotaged in a way a little bit. I would have a move, for example, and then, I'd have somebody tell me exactly why it makes no sense, but really, nothing makes sense. It's so easy to say that. So I was kind of mindf*cked a little bit and I started to, not lose confidence in myself, but just kind of lose confidence in the system."

On the reason why he decided to leave WWE's developmental system: "I wrote some stuff out and I didn't hear anything back. They didn't even go, 'that sucked' or 'it was okay'. I heard just nothing and at that point I thought, 'wow, there really is no light at the end of this tunnel and I really don't want to be this guy that is miserable sitting on the sidelines wishing he could contribute more.' And so I thought I still have this faith deep in myself. I do believe there's something more I can do. So I just wanted to show WWE that I could be someone that could make wrestling a lot of money and be a major player as myself, and I understand at that point in time the broken down 170-pound [version of] Kenny Omega was worthless, so what I wanted to do was build myself back up from the bottom again, actually refined that confidence that I once had, go back to the drawing board and come up with something to make me me, and head back at it."

NXT World Champion Drew McIntyre recently spoke with the folks at The Whig for an interview. Below are some of the highlights.

On keeping in touch with Jinder Mahal over the years: "We kept in contact with each other. Both of us would go back and forth about cutting the negatives out of our lives, both of us cut out the alcohol and the partying, which isn't productive for an athlete. We started eliminating anything that wasn't benefiting us, people who weren't benefiting us. We were just very driven and very focused and we were both on the same page in that sense. Our physiques obviously changed, when you train that hard and try that hard and you're that driven, pushing each other and pushing each other. It was so cool that our careers started mirroring each other."

On building up his brand on the independent wrestling scene following his WWE departure in the past: "The photograph of me there, on my knees looking at the title, that pretty much says it all. All the hard work over the past few years and busting my ass, the physical and mental toll. ... I was the busiest wrestler in the world and I wasn't home a lot, I was traveling through the UK, and every two, three weeks and these international flights nonstop and I was seeing my wife once, twice a month if that. She was encouraging me, pushing me, pushing me to be the best. That was very tough on me, very tough on her, but it was all part of helping the business and helping build my family's future."

On finally capturing the NXT World Championship: "After the show, [I remember] myself and Jinder in the hotel room, both with our titles, looking at each other and saying, 'Imagine three years ago if somebody said this was going to happen?' We'd probably have told you you were absolutely insane. But we did it. We believed in ourselves and it's a message to anybody out there who has a dream that seems impossible. Nothing is impossible. Just look at Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre."
when we get that #3MB reunion :takedat:
Former NXT World Champion and the newest addition to the SmackDown Live talent roster, Bobby Roode, recently spoke with The Peter Borough Examiner for an interview. Below are some of the highlights.

On losing his passion while in TNA / Impact Wrestling (GFW): "To be honest, when I was with TNA, I just didn't have the drive any more, I didn't have the passion. It was unfamiliar territory to me, because I've always loved the business and I've always been passionate about it. It was the first thing that I thought of when I woke up, last thing I thought about when I went to bed. I just didn't have that any more."

On seeing friends such as Samoa Joe succeed in NXT and what lured him to join the promotion: "It was very intriguing to me. Honestly, I didn't want to do anything else with my life. I knew that I still had a lot of really good years left in this business. I really wanted to get the opportunity to come to WWE. NXT was presented to me and I was very excited about the opportunity that was given."

On his NXT TakeOver: Toronto ring entrance being among his favorite thus far in his WWE career: "It was fun. That was one of my favorite ones actually, the one with the choir. I think it was 80, 84 people in the choir and just coming up from underneath the stage. Being in my hometown, of course, at the Air Canada Centre, that was probably my most memorable entrance by far."
nobody happy at TNA but let @Bryan Danielson tell you otherwise :mjlol:
As noted, WWE Executive Paul "Triple H" Levesque recently appeared as a guest on The World According To Wrestling podcast for an interview.

In addition to the highlights we posted previously, "The Game" also spoke about how the World Of Sport revival in the United Kingdom in late 2016 affected WWE's plans to create and launch a new WWE U.K. division.

"Did it change our timing a little bit because of when they positioned their show," said Triple H during his appearance on the second episode of The World According To Wrestling podcast. "Yeah, but we are talking by maybe months or something not speeding up the process in terms of getting it done."

Triple H continued, "We've been working on this for a long time. Any other show aside, if they are successful I'm happy for them."

"At the end of the day, it all helps the industry so we just do what we do," said HHH. "And I think we do it better than anyone else on the planet."
maybe if they don't wanna just own everything :martin:
Paul Heyman remains a controversial figure backstage as there are some WWE officials in management and creative who dislike how Heyman comes in and gets Brock Lesnar's segments changed.

Heyman has significant pull with Vince McMahon to the point where he is able to structure angles and finishes in a non-traditional way which ultimately ends up working better. The feeling is that if Heyman wasn't around, Lesnar would likely just go along with things and play them out as they were originally written by creative.
:martin:
let heyman cook with brock, otherwise who knows where brock would even be
