While the DLC is kinda dry I don’t think Tekken is in nearly as bad a state as MK. This year’s Evo had the most Tekken participants ever at like 4600 while MK1’s was under 650. And that was before Chaos Reigns flopped :mjlol:
What’s the issue exactly with mortal kombat, I thought that shyt was just as popular as street fighters

But seriously this season 1 dlc lineup has been a disaster.. If they were gonna go with Clive they they shoulda dropped him 1st this past Spring when ff16 was still somewhat fresh. Followed by at least 1 more guest character... Heihachi, Eddie, and lidia (:scusthov:) should been pushed back some seasons.. this was not the time to gamble with the momentum this game had at launch.. Hopefully they can recover from this and not go out like MK just did
You talmbout multiple guest characters in a single season and then not going out like MK :dead:

WB Games challenging Ubisoft for the WOAT publisher crown doing the usual. Rushed release missing expected features, balance issues, egregious monetization, etc.

I played for a lil bit around launch but at the time balancing was fukked around the Kameos system. Pretty much everyone used Cyrax or serena and did the same cheese. It‘d basically be like if Tekken had a system where you could choose your heat smash/engagers seperate to the character you pick and everyone uses the same 2-3 options across the board.

None of those numbers matter.. Only sales/profits.. the sales and profits have to hit a certain point for them to continue dropping new seasons.. Tekken needs more casuals. They need to bring in NEW players.. Thats why they've put so much effort in dumbing the game down.. you're right though they're not in as bad of a state as MK but I don't think its farfetched that it could get to that point by the company making poor decisions

Expound on the problem with guest characters
Never seen them serve much purpose other than people going "oh wow, ______ is in the game :gladbron: ," they get played for about a month then get dropped forever because the hype wears off and they're usually lower mid-tier or worse

If they got a new player to buy the game then the goal was accomplished.. The DLC characters themselves aren't the problem.. T7 would be nowhere near as successful as it was had Akuma then Geese Howard and Noctis not dropped that qst season. it set up so much hype for Season 2 where they could now experiment an take risks...

Now look at T8... Who TF rushing to buy the next season pass after they just gave us Eddy, Heihachi, Lidia, saving Clive last and teasing....... Anna Williams :mjlol:... For Tekken 7 the DLC character they teased for Season 2 was Negan for Walking Dead

While I 100% agree that the DLC needs to be more hype, I also think yall long time tekken dudes don’t realize how good you have it:skip: Other than Street Fighter there’s nothing that’s remotely as appealing as Tekken if you’re a newcomer getting into fighting games. T8 just won fighting game of the year and is comfortably in 2nd place behind Street Fighter and ahead of Smash Ultimate in stream viewership across all platforms and pretty much has been since it came out.

While they could be doing things better for sure, it’s still literally SF6, Tekken 8, Smash and then everyone else by a wiiiiiiiiide margin. I don’t know how the store was in T7 but for all we know those Tekken Coins could be doing crazy numbers for them :hubie:
