He comes across as a guy who has everything come so easy to him in life, and therefore he kinda just goes through the motions. No hunger or intensity in his performances, and it translated into apathy from the fans. That X factor which draws fans in, is non-existent with him... He seems like a decent guy --- perhaps stepping back from things will allow him to refocus.

to be honest, I never saw him being a big star. He didn't have the Charisma, mic skills were mediocre, crowd didn't seem to give a sh*t about him. I guess there's always a call to TNA.

Alot of 2nd & 3rd gen brehs have a ton of trouble living up to their fathers. The reason why Orton has done so well, he didn't cowboy up. Cody Rhodes, while acknowledging his father, is not following him or Dustin's path. Curtis Axel is a great wrestler, but he is barrowing his father's shyt. Ted Jr. failed on that aspect, because while it fits bloodline wise to do it, it wasn't Ted Jr.

If he had no family connections, he probably never would have even gotten a shot. He can work I guess, but that's pretty much where it ends with him.

They tried a few times and a few different ways with this dude and came up empty. He just doesn't seem to have what it takes. He probably realizes that and him making this announcement shouldn't really surprise anybody.

Might have made it as a white-meat babyface in ... oh, I don't know, 1975? He's not a good fit for today's product.
