Say breh, so you talking offshore banking and trade accounts? What does that have to do with "tax write-offs"?

this is true. Apple has some shell corporation that they run $30 billion through and Ireland sees none of that money. I'm not really sure what the benefit is. The firm has three employees so it's not like it's helping the country out by employing a bunch of people.

My accountant told me he doesn't advise taking a write off for a home office because it can be a red flag for audit by the IRS, but I've read opinions online to the contrary.

I didn't pay close enough attention when he talked because accountants are amazingly boring, but he said something about home office deductions affecting your taxes when you sell the home.

I should have listened.

Oh my bad... noticed that I posted something completely off-topic... Had to get it off my chest tho :manny:

Yup... Their patents are registered in Ireland because Irish law says that a corporation pays taxes where they have their annual corporate meetings while U.S. law only registers the asset/corporate holding if it is located within the borders.

It's kinda sub-topic though depending on how you intend to use the services though...some people funnel their money into off-shore accounts to keep their assets from being susceptible to the United States government.
