Mike Judge (King of the Hill) has a show that airs on Cimenax where old rock stars tell wild-ass tour stories and they animate them.

First heard it from Bill Burr but I think the 1st season was all country so I ignored it but it turns out Season 2 is all Funk artists like George Clinton, Rick James etc. They're 2 episodes in so far.

Watched the George Clinton ep and I was :deadmanny:. George Clinton scamming his way into Motown with counterfeit money and Berry Gordy calling him and his crew ugly :mjlol: Gonna watch Rick James tonight.

It's basically the Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories in cartoon form narrated by the artist and their friends/band etc.

Yeah, I watched both eps this past weekend. lol @ how Atomic Dog was made. Dude was so high he thought the tape rewinding was the beat. The fire in the hotel room sitting lotus position was great to.
Rick James joint was cool to. Mike Judge is just great, I think I like all his projects.

For real.

I am a fan, but not heavy, so I thought they were known but not big but it looks like they were literally the 70s Wu and Clinton wasn't RZA he was ODB

Yeah, I know the hits and I listened to some of my older sister's albums when I was a kid (Unfunky UFO and Maggot Brain). I used to get confused why people called them different names. You would hear Parliament, Funkadelic or Parliament Funkadelic. This cleared it up for me.

Just watched the Bootsy ep. Really enjoying the series, making me want to listen to a lot of Funk records. I dunno in my head I just thought the era was shorter than it was. These were prolific artists with a lot of albums.
Also, the 70s seemed like a real good time. The country seemed hipper and more cities had a genuine cool hip scene. And the drug use and loose morals is something I'm sure I would have enjoyed as well. lol

I go through phases where I wanna go back and listen to older artists/eras, too, but man even the “lesser known” artists have 7 albums minimum.

I never know whether to just say fukk it and start chronologically or just find out (somehow) which 3 albums are the most critically acclaimed and just listen to those.

Never mind a group like Parliament that have 5 different names.

And getting a Greatest Hits album just seems like some tourist shyt :lolbron:

If you got the time avoid the greatest hits. You always miss out on that 2nd or 3rd song on the album that's your personal favorite.
