What Taken was, was kind of a call back to the 90's action movies, and it worked on that level

but, yeah, it's preposterous, borderline offensive, entirely unbelievable

what does work is the use of an A list star to give the movie some credibility, like Face Off, The Rock, those kinds of movies, and Taken had that with Liam Neeson, so he was able to deliver pretty well written lines (which is what most people remember) Liam Neeson at one point was like a serious Oscar winner type actor, not a type cast white male revenge fantasy guy

The rest is mostly either convincing enough to decent. I saw in theaters around January 2009, and it was a fun experience. What also happened was social media memes and pop culture refracting of Liam Neeson's scenes, so it was really a lot more popular than a lot of similar movies, that came out between 2000 and 2009. Social media was just getting towards the mainstream.

Taken seemed like a less ridiculous version of the classic Commando.

Commando was more fun and completely illogical.

Taken 1 is a dope action flick. Aside from the annoying daughter and bytch mom. He saves his daughter and his c*nt ex shows little gratitude. Foh.

But the sequels are absolutely garbage. That's not up for debate.

It leaked prior to its release. Thats how i saw it. The leaked version was more graphic and the much better version.
