Just saw this on encore on demand. Great great flick. Was a winner at sudance. Here's the plot:


Take Shelter (2011) - IMDb

Curtis, a father and husband, is starting to experience bad dreams and hallucinations. Assuming mental illness, he seeks medical help and counseling. However, fearing the worst, he starts building an elaborate and expensive storm shelter in their backyard. This storm shelter threatens to tear apart his family, threatens his sanity and his standing in the community, but he builds it to save his family's life.

Michael Shannon killed the role. You really saw how he was slowly breaking down into the sea of madness. This is definitely one of those movies that make you wonder.

Especially the end. What do you think? Was it real or all a figment of his imagination. I took the literal road and say it was real. Dude was like a modern day Noah

I like fukked up endings like that. Dude knew he was right, wife knew he was right but they all dead. I'm gonna go a step further tho. In his dreams he distanced himself against all the things attacking him. He got rid of his dog and he got his friend removed from his work crew. Peep this tho, his wife was the only threat from his dreams that he didn't distance himself from. She ends of being the one that leads him to danger, away from the shelter on vacation. If you recall the dream she was soaking wet. If he distanced himself from her he woulda been at home near the shelter. Instead he and the family about to die.
