As the countdown to the Microsoft Surface Pro release date continues with no concrete end yet in sight, the Surface RT is still receiving something of a panning from certain critical parties. Not only have sales so far proved anything but encouraging and consumer demand tepid at best, but UBS AG analysts are now predicting that even the most cautious of targets may not have been met.
In fact, the analyst group has this week claimed that no more than a million units of the highly-debated Surface RT may have been shifted by Microsoft during the last fiscal quarter. The news really doesnt come at the best time for Microsoft, with the company now being forced to rely on a home-run from the Surface Pro tablet upon its launch in the coming weeks.
And with a $900 price-tag to justify, the Surface Pro Tablet is already facing the unenviable task of moving mountains to succeed.
Sadly the poor outlook for Microsoft doesnt end with the present either, further industry bodies have suggested that rather than reigniting the worlds interest in the Surface project as a whole, the launch of the Surface Pro could effectively serve as the final nail in the coffin of its low-calorie Windows RT sibling.
