WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman is very pleased with the current state of boxing. He feels that the welterweight through middleweight divisions in particular offer many great matchups.

"I think there are many great fights that can happen between 147 and 160 pounds. So many great fighters. If you just take Canelo, Cotto and Triple G that is a triple great combination. I think we are going to see great fights in the coming year," said Sulaiman.

Sulaiman reiterated that a fight between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and former WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will be allowed to take place before the winner is obligated to face WBC intern middle weight champion Gennady Golovkin. Cotto of course must win his upcoming fight for either the proposed matchups to take place.

"Triple G won, Canelo won already. Cotto needs to win on June 6th. There are advanced talks for Canelo-Cotto and that is correct the winner of that fight must fight Triple G," Sulaiman told BoxingScene.com.

Not necessarily...If Mayweather keeps his 154 title and decides he wants Cotto, the mandatory will be waived for the WBC Middleweight unification match.....

They trying to fukk GGG sideways, if team golovkin was smart they'll target Lara, Angulo, and Trout

Canelo/Cotto will be at 157 or some shyt......I wouldn't mind seeing him take a soft touch or three :mjpls: at a real 160 before seeing him fight GGG.

Besides there's plenty of time to make Canelo/GGG let that fight cook. :smugfavre:
I agree with canelo GGG cooking some more...but one of these cats need to take away cotto's lineal/wbc middleweight title...the time will be now if he gets by geale...of course I'll be hoping for geale to beat cotto..it will make the right fights at that division happen quicker

exactly as i said...canelo-cotto or ggg-cotto needs to happen if cotto gets by geale...those are the NOW fights...no more cooking is needed...plus cotto is bullshyttin with that title..its time for him to do the job...losing it to geale will be fukkery which i can get with since i expect cotto to win that fight

At that point I dont think GGG-Canelo would need any more marinating. Cotto-Canelo will be a September or October fight, if Canelo wins a match would likely take place in Spring 2016. No more time would be needed...unless Canelo wants more time before he takes another L. :sas2:

And GGG has said if he cant get an A list fight he would like to fight twice more this year. A matchup with Andy Lee would be excellent.

I agree...Andy has a tenuous grasp on that belt he has...might as well get some unification going

No it wouldnt, it would be another 35-1 odds in GGG favor type of fight that only his stans and casuals give him props for beating:sas1:

GGG wants a A list fight, he needs to move down to 154 or move up to 168...but we know he will only do that for Floyd or JCC Jr.:sas2:

I dont see that. 160 is clearly GGG's natural division. 154 would be stretching to compete at full time. Maybe a one off for a big fight (Mayweather or if Canelo forced a catchweight). Otherwise i dont see a reason to go down. No one at 154 i think otherwise is worth going down for, or is even a problem in the ring. Plus he would just be criticized for moving down.

160 has some good fights. Lee, Lemiuex, and Johnson would be good. Shame that they cant be made, but Quillin and Jacobs would be nice as well.

GGG has looked smaller than the last few guys he has fought at 160, so i understand why he wouldnt want to be at 168 full time. Again, do a one off if the situation is right. He signed for JCC. Word is he out to Froch if he wants the fight. And the one everyone wants to talk about is Ward...which when looked at objectively Ward wants a fight or two to get back in shape and they do need to build some hype to get both fighters the paydays they want.

I dont have a problem with GGG trying to maximize himself at 160 first. There is still work to do...he has stated he wants to unify and get the lineal championship as his first priorities.
