As DC Comics and Warner Bros. Pictures gear up for their big superhero movie universe launch in 2016, we’ve been getting more and more new updates about both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, both of which hit theaters next summer.

On the Suicide Squad front: The big DC villain team-up film has seen a steady stream of character details and cameo rumors hit the Internet, and today it’s all about Will Smith’s Deadshot, the marksman assassin known throughout the DC Universe. Read on for rumored details about how writer/director David Ayer (Fury) will portray Deadshot onscreen – but remember, these could be considered MILD SPOILERS.

At this point it’s almost a daily trend for El Mayimbe from Latino-Review to drop a Suicide Squad update, and here’s the one about Will Smith’s Deadshot:

While some may question the source and/or validity of this info, nothing that Mayimbe has reported about Suicide Squad characters like Harley Quinn, The Joker, or that Batman Cameo has sounded like A) it’s all that far-fetched, or B) It is anything BUT logical for a blockbuster movie adaptation of Suicide Squad that’s also meant to bridge together the DC Movie Universe.

In any event, the description of Deadshot seems fitting with the overall DCMU aesthetic; i.e., in tradition with the source material, but also “grounded” in presenting a real-world aesthetic. So far, fans have looked at the costumes for Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman or Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman with noted swell of optimism (amongst the usual detractors).

Having seen the Batman V Superman teaser footage first-hand at Comic-Con 2014, I’m of the opinion that Snyder (at least in that small snippet) captured the feel of a living DC Universe – in much the same way that Watchmen brought Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel to life onscreen. So, despite the bias that comes with being “DC Outlaw,” I think the current DCMU looks interesting to me both as a fan and a casual moviegoer. Even controversial casting like Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor looks a bit more sensible, now that we’re seeing first official images of the character.

What do you think – do these Deadshot details sound good to you? Is the DCMU shaping up the way you want it to?

Here’s a quick breakdown of some more recent RUMORS we’ve heard about Suicide Squad:

Deathstroke the Terminator may be in the film.
The Thinker could make an appearance.
Batman villain Hugo Strange may also have a role.
Batman himself may cameo in the film.
Backstory details on Jared Leto’s Joker.
Villain and plot information for the film.

Suicide Squad features Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It is written and directed by David Ayer.
