(I know I tanked with my Liz Phair thread, but whatever)

This is one of THE records from the 90s, in my opinion. I'm a giant nirvana fan ... but I don't think they made a record that touches this. Few bands have.

Listen, enjoy. Then discover Husker Du, if you haven't already.

ok, fukk you guys (not really).

But since I got this thread, I'm going to post all the non-hip-hop music I'm listening to while I'm drinking (or working, or at the gym).

So, this evening, I'm enjoying 'flip your wig' by husker du. Also some replacements, early soul asylum and descendents. Basically all minneapolis shyt -- except the descendents, which are basically a staple.

Anyway, this is my blog now. So enjoy. Or don't.

This and the Beaster EP are great. I wasn't really a fan of File Under Easy Listening or that live album.

IMO, Metal Circus is the best record Husker Du released. I feel that their most regarded album, Zen Arcade, is way too long. I'd rather listen to New Day Rising or Flip Your Wig

Milo Goes to College is a perfect album. The only other album in their discography that comes close is Everything Sucks. IDWGU and Enjoy are uneven. It's a shame that they helped spawn pop punk, one of the worst punk sub-genres

Pretty much agree on "easy listening." I like "gee angel," because it sounded like it belonged on Copper Blue.

Not sure I can even pick a favorite Husker Du record. I started with Candy Apple Gray, which I love. But I pretty much love all of em.

Descendents hold a special place with me (got Milo goes to college on the "two things at once" cassette when I was like 14) ... but, I agree that there are filler tracks on most of their albums. They make some songs that are perfect, but some that really aren't. But, they were a great complement to the angrier or more political punk that was coming out of LA at the time. It's annoying that a lot of bands took what they did and made it pop punk, but I can't blame them for it.

@gamblor since you love "milo goes to college" ... your thoughts on "bikeage"?

To me, that's the best song on the record .... and better than the best song on most records.

A lot of blog/reviewers misunderstand the song's meaning.
