Sudan civilian rule had a spark when it started

They're going to have to use extreme violence to get the general public in line, this may be the most unpopular coup in their history. Im sure the Gulf gave them assurances that they will get budgetary support, but highly likely there will be prolonged instability. Sad, Sudan has a lot of potential, but their military will not let go of their perch.

I think the situation with the Beja in the East is what triggered this ultimately. What’s sad is that Sudan didn’t even get to have the experiment with democracy that Egypt had at least.
