In the wake of the release of the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill in the U.S. House of Representatives, the United Negro College Fund has called on Congress to improve the legislation to more positively impact historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

In a show of solidarity, the presidents of the 37 member HBCU institutions which comprise the UNCF membership signed a letter to congressional leaders on Friday to outline their recommendations.

Although the proposal and even the cut is an increase over the previous administration and although Black Colleges should exist if Black people don't support them maybe the smaller schools should go away. That being said two things need to happen. HBCU's need better lobbyists and Black Politicians need to fight harder for them. Also Biden shouldn't promise pie in the sky shyt then immediately put Black programs on the chopping block.

Cut something else or cut everything equally.

Above the fray.
After staging protests for weeks, the Howard students are now being covered by the national outlets.

Do you think this story hurts or helps HBCUs get more federal funding?
The way Howard administration mishandled this, does it bolster the critics who want to block more funding, citing fiscal & operational mismanagement at the schools?
Or does it bolster the advocates who view this is an example of the crumbling infrastructure problems that the schools continue to deal with, because of underfunding?
