If you love eating at Chick-fil-A, you may be accustomed to waiting a while for your meal.
A new study by QSR Magazine, a publication dedicated to the fast food industry, shows Chick-fil-A has the slowest drive-thru service speed.
Customers spend an average of 322.98 seconds (5.4 minutes) in the Chick-fil-A drive-thru.
Dunkin’ has the highest speed, with an average wait time of 216.75 seconds (3.6 minutes). The company’s simpler breakfast, coffee and treats menu makes it easier to keep the seconds from climbing too high, QSR Magazine reports.
"At several of our Dunkin' NextGen locations, we feature an On-the-Go drive-thru lane, which allows guests who order ahead through the Dunkin' mobile app to bypass the regular drive-thru lane to pick up their orders and get on their way even faster than before," Scott Murphy, COO for Dunkin' U.S., told QSR.
To help improve its wait time, Chick-fil-A has team members outdoors at several locations, using tablets to take orders and payment however that still doesn't make things better as it comes across pretty sloppy.
"We are embracing technology to both provide a better experience for guests and to help take tasks off restaurant team members so they can devote more time to hospitality for our customers," Khalilah Cooper, director of service and hospitality for Chick-fil-A, told QSR.
Despite the fast food industry’s effort to improve drive-thru wait times, the seconds keep climbing.
Fast food customers spent an average of 255 seconds (4.3 minutes) from speaker to order window in 2019, about 20 seconds longer than 2018.
Top Speed of service:
Talk about socalled quick service
