Dang I forgot we had a thread. Only reason to play Harris is if there are 2 guards you’re really worried about. He’s behind Torrey to me. Go Murray/Barton/MPJ/Millsap/Jokic with Craig, Morris and grant off the bench come playoff time

:mjtf: We’re getting better every year

Breh, let’s be real here we under achieved two years ago when we missed the playoffs because he was out coached by Thibs, then we miss the wcf because his terrible coaching decisions, and his treatment of mpj is so egregious that he is going to either destroy the young fellas confidence or he is going to request a trade and be the franchise star we all believe he can be. This is about championships we won’t win one with Malone, we won’t Breh.

He needs to bench Harris that would help a lot
I’m good with playing him for the next 10-15 games or so to see if he can get his offensive game back. He was looking pretty good a couple games ago. With his defense and his offensive game from a few years ago, he’s an impact player. But if he is the guy he was before the all star break, he needs to be out of the playoff rotation unless we play Portland, OKC or Houston. If they don’t have 2 guards that require a great defender be put on em, Harris isn’t adding anything.

Yea they don't really have many other options at guard is the thing, maybe give McRae a chance he was having a decent season before coming to the Nuggets. He isn't a great shooter but he would be one of their better shooters

Barton is a 2 that’s had to play 3 because there weren’t any other good options before MPJ broke out. Murray/Barton/MPJ/Grant/Jokic has length and shooting everywhere. Then you have Morris and Millsap as high level bench players and Craig or McCrae depending on if you need offense or defense.

the problem is Malone is either to dumb or stubborn to realize that is his best lineup and gives the team the best chance of winning a championship.

We just weren’t ready two years ago. It’s also possible the Wolves were just better at that time. Taj played good D on Jokic when it mattered most. We didn’t execute in the clutch. I’d blame it on the youth and inexperience just as much as the coaching and play calling.

I don’t think their handling of MPJ is egregious. Are you forgetting how his back injury scared teams off? He was a top-5 lock and he went at the end of the lottery because teams didn’t want to take the risk. I think they’re just being cautious and bringing him along slowly. I get the frustration though because he’s a talented cat and if he’s fully healthy he should be on the court. I’m critical too of how Malone fails to give younger guys opportunities to develop by playing them on a consistent basis but it’s not so detrimental that you get rid of him. He did the same with Jokic and Murray and they’re alright. I just hope he realizes MPJ can contribute to the Nuggets success this year if he trusts him a little and gives him opportunities to play and learn.

I’m actually not sure that’s true. I think MPJ starting is the best option for the long term, but he does fukk up a lot. I think if we play all the vets heavy mins and give MPJ spot mins, we have like a 5% chance to win a title. If MPJ is getting heavy mins, it’s like a 2% chance to win it. But giving him a lot of reps in the playoffs is a lot better for him long term, so I think you do it.

while MPJ does mess up a lot the play of Gary Harris has been so bad that you can’t make an logical argument of him or Craig being on the starting five over mpj. Last year it took Malone forever to realize Barton should not be in the playoff rotation despite everyone else seeing it and speaking on it.

I honestly believe MPJ now with Jokic and Grant on the floor with him gives us a better chance of winning it then him getting no minutes. However, I think Malone is a bad coach and our ceiling with him will always be first or second round playoff exits.
