I'm starting to feel bad for him a little bit. Catching a lot of criticism as of late. This just isn't his year I guess.

"Showtime Sports’ Stephen Espinoza, who looked like a gloriously victorious boxing Michael Corleone, at the very beginning of this entire Mayweather deal is now looking like a bumbling Fredo, screaming “I can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says…I’m smart and I want respect!” before leaving for his one-way fishing trip in The Godfather, Part II."

The FIRST paragraph from the article:

Showtime’s calculated gamble in 2013 of signing Floyd Mayweather to what could end up being the richest deal in sports history is on the brink of being labeled a costly mistake.

Realistically, with the money being dished out to Mayweather, the return on Showtime’s investment when it came to “Money” was not really the issue. There wasn’t, and still isn’t, much room for profit when your A-side is taking home 30-40 million up front, plus back-end sales bonuses. With this kind of deal in place, an event has to clear one million buys– something Mayweather has only done once thus far under Showtime’s loving embrace– before anyone at the network even begins thinking about a sizable return on their investment.

"Bu-bu-but....Showtime IS making money off this deal. What are yall talking about? Ca-ca-can one of you Coli financial consultants please tell me why you say otherwise! No way could multiple reporters keep saying the same thing!":damn::mjcry:

Sad @ChocolateGiddyUp :to:

:russ:

It aint rocket science. Stephen Espinoza ducks ALL questions and spins, like a good lawyer, any questions about them being in the red:dead:

He even makes up scenarios (like reporters saying they are losing tens of millions when NOBODY has ever reported that) in order to build a fake argument and tear it down....and the Floyd stans fall for it:wow:

Showtime aint making no money off the deal with Floyd in 3 of his 4 fights there, but it's still a success to Espinoza he says, because it shows that by Floyd fighting on their network, they must be doing "top tier programming", even though they aint making a profit:mjlol:

The network’s two remaining shows of 2014 feature the gunk left in Al Haymon’s matchmaking lint filter. Chad Dawson, Rances Barthelemy, Vanes Martirosyan, Andrzej Fonfara, Tomoki Kameda, and Roberto Garcia will now get their chance to make a token payday at Showtime’s (and the fan’s) expense as all of Haymon’s main stars undo the top button on their trousers and sit back to revel in a blockbuster year for bogus paydays.

Sadly, 2015 doesn’t look to be any different than the second half of 2014. The Showtime cast of fighters is mostly noncommittal about any real, high-stakes battles with elite-level opposition.

And why should they care?

In a world where Danny Garcia, the top fighter in a 140 lb. division jam-packed with world class talent, can make $700,000 for fighting a walking sack of grain and the immensely talented junior featherweight champ Leo Santa Cruz can make $750,000 for, literally, fighting his sparring partner, why would any reasonable fighter care about anything other than “getting theirs?”

Showtime and Espinoza have managed to parlay the boxing coup of the century into a network-crushing blunder over the course of just a few months. And it doesn’t seem that there’s anyone aboard with the guts or the brains to save the sinking ship. Instead, “Fredo” Espinoza seems to be doubling down on his failed strategies and weak-kneed approaches. Him conceding the network’s last two shows of the year to allow playing time for the Haymon B-team speaks volumes as to who’s really running things.

It makes you wonder whether Espinoza’s priorities are more in line with making Haymon and his fighters rich than in delivering a quality product to the fans.

You never use facts. You dance around issues, attempt to be funny.....and STILL never make any points.

Its exactly why you are still arguing with folks about Garcia vs Herrera, because you can never make a valid point without joking your way through shyt...this post I just quoted from you is another perfect example:yeshrug:

Bottomline is multiple reporters are reporting the same thing, but you dont believe it...and have NO reasons why you don't believe it, just "because" is your only reason.

Im done. I aint bout to go back and forth over obvious shyt:camby:

Espinoza behaving like he works for Al Haymon and not Showtime is what has resulted in this pathetic slate of Showtime fights. Showtime needs to give dude the boot and replace him with someone who is dedicated to putting on quality matches that fans want to see.

Lies N exxaggerations Anybody can go to this past friday in the Main thread N see not once did I say Sho was making Money off the deal otherwise you woulda quoted it cuz we both kno you go digging thru old posts

Fridays conversation was all about why make a rematch of a "flop" while having a shytty undercard N still spending the same money as the first, plus a 5 city tour...N the definition of a Flop to the public (under a milly) might not be a flop to Showtime

Acting like a hoe cuz you tried to Flex N got called out on it...you better then that

Or could it be MAYBE just MAYBE the Floyd has to do a Milly to be a success is not true....then all that shyt makes sense doesn't it

:sas1:

Like I said then, MULTIPLE reports and articles have been written on the fact that Showtime is in the red unless they hit 1 milly in PPV buys. This just so happens to be written on Monday, and that's why it was posted.

I never discussed a success unless it was financial...why the fukk ELSE would I be talking about them being in the red if I ain't talking numbers or why do you think the SI interview started off about the fact it's been reported numerous times that Showtime ain't profiting off the deal with Floyd.

Surely, you can't think all the writers and their sources are wrong (especially Doug Fischer and Dan Rafael), but you are right in believing Stephen Espinoza word for it:mjlol:

Maybe just maybe Showtime doesn't care about the fact they are in the financial red like we've been saying and is now content taking only moral victories for the 3 out of 4 PPVs they've had with Floyd, because it means they are doing "top tier programming":sas2:

That's a hell of a lot different from what you first accused me of saying now isn't it:leostare:

Which was exactly my point We was on the subject of Espinoza saying jus having Floyd on their PPV was a "win"...which lead to questions like why have a 5 city tour?? N why pay chino 3 million for a rematch?? When they could have really cut costs N chose a different opp to match that shyt undercard

Then I came to the conclusion of the numbers for the first fight had to have been "good enough" for them to pay the same amount for the rematch N give it a tour...that's it... You stretched that way into some other shyt it never was..acting like I was Master Teacher N shyt:beli:
