Steam for linux is out. You can download it here: http://media.steampowered.com/client/installer/steam.deb
When you try to log in, Steam will tell you that you are not part of the beta and log you out. To get around that, if you are using Ubuntu, right click on the Unity Steam icon and select "Friends." Right click on one of your friends and then click "View Steam Profile." The main Steam window will pop up and you can use it.
