LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Friday afternoon during a senate vote at the capitol it was brought to our attention that one State Senator was wearing a mask that appeared to have the confederate flag on it.

Kiyerra Lake spoke with State Senator Dale Zorn who was wearing the mask and she’s here for you now with his response.

“I told my wife it probably will raise some eyebrows, but it was not a Confederate flag,” Zorn said.

He continued by saying, “Even if it was a Confederate flag, you know, we should be talking about teaching our national history in schools and that’s part of our national history and it’s something we can’t just throw away because it is part of our history. And if we want to make sure that the atrocities that happened during that time doesn’t happen again, we should be teaching it. Our kids should know what that flag stands for.”

He knew people would think it was a confederate flag, he knew the message he was sending. Our kids know what it means and we won’t stand for it!

I really hate the "it's part of our national history" bs. Just completely insulting to read or hear.
Crazy I'm arguing with somebody on Instagram right now cause they was so mad at Colin Kaepernick but they wanna protest now. And they say that it's different because the national anthem is sacred

Forreal, this lyin ass muthafukka. If he was from Alabama or Mississippi it would be fukked up but his family would have been confederate but how Michigan? it was very Union. I don't get it when I see confederate flags in Pennsylvania, Oregon, Idaho, upstate NY:stopitslime: some weren't even states during the civil war.

I do.
It's straight up racism and celebrating white supremacy anytime you see that flag outside the south. Not to mention promoting treason and sedition.

I can promise you this is the same cracker that would say "Get over slavery" and it "wasn't that serious so it shouldn't be focused on" or some other white shyt:camby:.
