Starting to really despise the "you cant win a title with , insert player, garbage

Like this dumb cac calls up to talk about Rex Ryan on wfan and hes like theres certain things you know, you know you cant win with tony romo, (dont really agree but not a terrible example), you know you cant win with woody johnson, (more logical argument because an owners stupidity is detrimental to a team), you know you cant win with rex ryan (same as woody but replace owner with head coach), you know you cant win with Carmelo Anthony (WTF?)

First off why? cause they lost one game to the sixers? second, he did win a college title, you would think if he was unclutch or a cancer he couldnt win a title at that high a level.

But the bigger thing I hate is what you really mean is you cant win with , insert player, CARRYING YOU to a title. Cause certainly somebody like Melo or even other players that are unfairly criticized could win a title, even as the best player on the team, if they had another star level player.

and btw Carl Everett won a title, if he wasnt the best example of a cancer and he won so this argument is trash.

And CAC in this town (NY) hate on Carmelo too damn much, get off his dikk already you fukkin crackers

Just before everyone else can actually respond, this is a race baiting thread at heart, just get this outta the way.

To the sports aspect of it, you can't possibly think they're basing what they think of Melo off of one L at Philly. Melo's a polarizing figure because he wasn't NY's first choice. That's really all it boils down to. To get people to change their tune on Melo, they have a win a title. That was the whole point of rebuilding the Knicks from nothing. If Melo doesn't ultimately win a title, he'll be viewed at best as a disappointment, and perhaps he'll always be viewed that way til the team sucks balls again and appreciates the good times some more (like Ewing, Starks, and those other 90s Knicks).

Cause certainly somebody like Melo or even other players that are unfairly criticized could win a title, even as the best player on the team, if they had another star level player.

See STAT and Chandler. Fact is, Melo won't be viewed as a winner til he wins some more. Are the expectations in a way unfair? Maybe, but this is NYC, where the Steinbrenner mentality consumes even the crappiest of teams here. I'd love to defend Melo, but this is what he signed up for. The day he comes through, he's a basketball God. Til then, what separates him from the other NY stars that ultimately didn't come through?

A player like Melo can win a title if everything goes right and the right players are around him. He did make it to the Western Conference Finals one year. And if they could have beat the Lakers im pretty sure they would have beaten the Magic in the finals.
