More plug ins. Just started using the 2500 api and the sound is amazing to me. Has me questioning why the ssl was/is so dominating as far as go to

I am using it on hip hop

Yeah the 2500 is great, to me it sounds cleaner and there's more control with the variable release and other controls.

The Ssl bus compressor is typically what we associate with a lot of hit records, just became a staple...being on the 2bus a lot of people mix into it with predefined settings....

Both are very punchy....it would be a matter of trying both on a mix and seeing which you prefer....

I like to have the release fairly quick without distorting and the attack at 30 ms on rap...

My experience is mainly with the waves stuff so it may differ....

If you get a chance try the 2500 on the mix bus see how you like it

What genres do you mix?

I have, I prefer the 2500 to the waves version of the ssl bus compressor in most cases:ehh:

I have heard good things about Cytomics the glue though....

Really I would mix anything I can get my hands on, I soak up a lot information where I can, but I have limited experience.....

Ideally rap and rnb, since I have solid understanding of the sonic pallete and its mostly what I listen to anyway....

Metal records also seem interesting.....

I have just gotten into mixing my own music. So i too am in the learning phase.

Do you listen to h.e.r.? If so what do think about the mixing done on the album?

What is your favorite mixed album?

Not familiar with the artist breh link to the album....

My favorite engineers are Fabian Marascuillo, Jaycen Joshua and Russ Elevado

I look for mixes done by them....

Album wise, sonically I really like

T-pains Epiphany its just really clear, clean and has a lot of punch....The lowend on buy you a drank is very well done....

D'angelo's Voodoo, amazing, was done entirely on tape and you hear it ....really warm sounding, a lot of groove and grit....

I go to Pink Flyod for rock stuff, I love DSOTM.....especially for LCR mix referencing and to get inspired efx wise....

Other than that, a lot of contemporary stuff, since thats the competition....in a sense....check out grammy nominations, top 10 charts, etc.....

Clients also typically provide some reference they feel fits the vybe....
